Do I need to create an account to take a course?

Your account stores your enrollment, your progress, your certificate, and your driving information. We create it during checkout — you provide your email, set a password, and the system links it to your course enrollment. The account is yours permanently, so future enrollments (a renewal, another course, a family member's separate account) can be set up faster. There's no separate signup step before enrollment; the account creation happens in the same flow as your first course.

The account-as-byproduct-of-enrollment design means you don't have to think about whether to register before you've decided to enroll. Drivers comparing providers can fill out the course-finder questions on our homepage without creating any account at all — only the actual purchase step requires email and password. This matters because some providers create a soft account from a quote step and start sending marketing email before the driver has actually committed to anything; we deliberately delay account creation to the moment the driver has agreed to the course. The privacy posture matches the user expectation rather than working against it.

After enrollment your account becomes the central record for everything related to your course history with us — every progress checkpoint, every payment receipt, every certificate, every support conversation. Drivers who later take a renewal course (insurance discount renewals are common after three years) log in to the same account and pick up where they left off, with prior history visible. The continuity is structurally useful for households: one shared payment method, multiple separate accounts under the same family email, with each driver's records separated by login but consolidated for billing purposes.
