I took the Buffalo PIRP course. Do I get both the 4-point reduction and the 10 percent insurance discount?
Hello Gloria, Yes — completing PIRP gives you both benefits together: - The New York DMV applies a reduction of up to 4 points on your record (only points received in the 18 months before completion) - New York insurers are required by law to offer at least a 10 percent reduction on liability, no-fault, and collision premiums for 3 years Practical notes: - We electronically report PIRP completion to the New York DMV - For the insurance discount, email or upload your certificate to your auto insurer - You can take PIRP once every 18 months for renewing the benefits New York PIRP (Point and Insurance Reduction Program) Please let us know if you have any further questions!
