How does the 10 percent Delaware insurance discount work?
I keep hearing that Delaware insurance companies have to give a 10 percent discount after this course. Is that really automatic?
Hello Brian, Yes — Delaware law (21 Del. C. §2733) requires auto insurers to provide a 10 percent discount on liability, personal injury protection, and collision premiums for three years after a driver successfully completes an approved defensive driving course. To activate the discount: - Email or upload your completion certificate to your insurer - Ask them to confirm the discount in writing and the effective date - Note the 3-year expiration date on your calendar so you can re-take the course to renew the discount The discount applies to the policyholder; if you share a policy with a spouse, both of you may want to take the course separately.
