The Defensive Driving course is built around the reality that almost no one finishes in one sitting. The progress bar tracks your exact position, the platform saves after each completed section or quiz, and when you log back in from any device you land directly on the next page. A few states have specific minimum time-on-page requirements — when those apply, a small timer at the bottom of the screen counts down the required minutes; you can't advance until it hits zero, but you can step away and let it run while you do something else.

If life pulls you away for a week, the course is still waiting — there's no penalty for spreading completion across weeks rather than days. The two deadlines worth tracking are the state's overall completion window (often 30 to 90 days from enrollment depending on the state) and any court deadline if you're enrolled in response to a citation. Both are surfaced inside your account and in our reminder emails so they never sneak up on you.

If the deadline tightens unexpectedly — a court date moved up, a license hold approaching reinstatement, an insurer renewal closer than expected — support can usually request an extension on your behalf for legitimate reasons. The flexibility runs in both directions: drivers can finish in a single weekend if they want, drivers can stretch the course over a month, and drivers in tight situations can request expedited processing once they're done. The system is permissive on pacing and strict on completion accuracy, which is the right balance for a regulated education product.
