Are endorsements included in the Class C ELDT?

The federal rule treats Class C ELDT and endorsement ELDT as separate trainings, even when most students take them together. Our Class C course covers the universal Class C theory; the Passenger, School Bus, and Hazmat endorsement courses each cover their specific content. You purchase the courses you need individually, which keeps costs down for drivers who only need one endorsement.

For students who plan to drive shuttles or buses, we recommend Class C plus Passenger as the typical bundle. For hazmat delivery drivers, Class C plus Hazmat is the typical pairing. The unbundled pricing structure reflects the genuine variety in Class C job profiles — drivers heading into different segments need different endorsement combinations, and forcing all Class C students to pay for endorsements they don't need would be inefficient. The downside is that drivers have to know which endorsements they need before enrolling, which sometimes requires a conversation with the prospective employer.

For employers funding Class C training for new hires, the bundling decision should reflect the specific job role rather than a generic Class C package. A school district hiring drivers for student transportation should fund Class C plus School Bus plus Passenger; a shuttle operator should fund Class C plus Passenger; a hazmat courier should fund Class C plus Hazmat. Mismatched packages either leave drivers with unusable credentials or force them to come back later for additional endorsements at additional cost. Our commercial team can advise on the right package for specific operational contexts.
