Magisterial District Court in Pittsburgh
I got a ticket from a Magisterial District Court in Pittsburgh. Do I list the magisterial court or the county court at signup?
Hello Donna, Good question. For Pennsylvania, register with the exact court name listed on your citation. Magisterial District Courts (MDJ) are listed individually rather than rolled into the county court. Steps: - Look at your citation — the court name and number (e.g. MDJ 05-2-XX) is printed at the top - Enter that exact court at signup - The case/citation number should also match the format on the paper If you cannot find the exact court in our dropdown, reply with the MDJ number on your citation and we will set the record manually. Why is the PA course 5 hours?
I am taking the Pennsylvania defensive driving course for a Philadelphia ticket. Why is it 5 hours specifically?
Hello Kelvin, Pennsylvania requires defensive driving courses to be at least 5 hours long under PennDOT regulations. The 5-hour minimum is set so the curriculum can cover the topics required by the state, including hazard perception, distracted driving, and Pennsylvania-specific traffic law. Practical notes: - The 5 hours is timed actively — you cannot fast-forward - You can split it across multiple sittings; progress saves automatically - The final exam is at the end and is included in the 5-hour minimum Once you pass, your certificate goes to the Philadelphia court the same business day.
