Used 10 points in 5 years already — eligible?
I have already used the Ohio Remedial course five times in five years for 10 points. Can I still take it?
Hello Vincent, Important question. Ohio limits the Remedial program to a maximum of 10 points credited within any 5-year window. If you have already received 10 points of credit in the last 5 years, you are not eligible for additional point credit until the 5-year window resets. A few things to consider: - You can still take the course voluntarily for safety and possibly for an insurance discount - Check your driving record through the Ohio BMV to confirm exactly how many credits have been used and when the 5-year window resets - Future eligibility depends on the rolling date of the earliest credit We can hold any enrollment until you confirm eligibility with the BMV. Will 2 points come off after Cleveland Remedial?
I took the Ohio Remedial course for my Cleveland ticket. The state told me I get 2 points off. When does that happen?
Hello Mason, Yes — the Ohio BMV awards a 2-point credit per completion of an approved Remedial Driving course, up to 10 points credited over a 5-year period. Timing: - We electronically report your completion to the Ohio BMV, usually within 24 hours - The point credit posts to your record within 7-14 business days - The underlying violations stay on the record but the active point total drops by 2 If the credit does not appear after 14 business days, reply with your Ohio driver's license number and we will re-verify.
