I took the New Jersey defensive driving course in 2022 for a Hackensack ticket. Can I take it again now?
Took the course 4 years ago — eligible again?
Hello Diane, Thanks for asking. New Jersey allows the point-reducing benefit of defensive driving once every five years. Since your last completion was in 2022, you would be eligible again 5 years after that date. A couple of options if you are not yet eligible: - You can still take the course voluntarily — many New Jersey insurers offer a 5 percent discount for three years even without the point benefit - Wait until you cross the 5-year mark for full point benefit We can hold any enrollment until you confirm the date of your prior completion.
