That said, we want to make sure you have everything you need to use it later. Hello Drew, Thanks for asking. The North Dakota Department of Transportation allows a 3-point reduction every 12 months after completion of an approved defensive driving course. Specifics: - The 3 points are removed from your active point count - The original violations stay on the record but the points are reduced - We report your completion to NDDOT, usually within 24 hours; the adjustment posts within 7-14 business days If you need another reduction down the road, you can take a refresher in 12 months.
