Eagle River traffic ticket dismissal through Alaska defensive driving
I was cited for speeding in Eagle River. Will completing this course prevent points from being added to my Alaska driving record?
Hello Theresa, Yes, completing an approved defensive driving course can help protect your Alaska driving privileges: - Alaska DMV awards a 2-point credit for completing an approved driver improvement course once every 12 months - If your ticket is pending in Anchorage District Court, ask the prosecutor or clerk about entering a pre-trial diversion to dismiss the charge - Once you pass the final quiz, an official completion certificate is issued that you can submit to the court or Alaska DMV. Does Alaska accept online traffic school?
I got a speeding ticket in Anchorage. Does the Alaska court accept an online course to keep points off my record?
Hello Robert, Great question. Alaska does not have a state-mandated point-reduction program the way California or Florida do, but many Alaska courts will accept a completed defensive driving course on a case-by-case basis. Before you enroll, please: - Call the Anchorage District Court that issued the ticket and ask whether they accept a completed defensive driving course as a condition of your case - Confirm whether they require a specific provider or any state-approved program We will send the completion record to you and, if requested, directly to the court. If the court does not allow course-based resolution, the course is still useful as a voluntary refresher. Alaska Defensive Driving Course Please let us know if you have any further questions!
