What to Expect with the New DETS Course
About the DETS Course Final Exam
Florida now requires a final exam as part of the DETS course:
- 50 multiple-choice questions pulled from a 500-question bank
- Score at least 80% to pass
- Fail? You'll need to repurchase and retake the course

What About the Florida Knowledge Exam?
The Florida Knowledge Exam remains unchanged for now. Here's what we know:
- Teens will still need to pass the Knowledge Exam to get a permit
- Adults may or may not need it (TBD)

- Sign up online for our state approved course around the age of 15 years old (teens in CA can earn a permit at age 15½).
- Read updated material, do interactive lessons, and take knowledge-reinforcing quizzes along the way.
- Pass a final exam at the end of the course to earn your DMV Drivers Education Certificate. You can take the final exam as many times as needed for free.
- Bring your certificate of completion to your local California DMV and take the written permit test. Pass and you go home with your learner's permit!
