How to Earn a 3-Point Credit or Renew and Raise Your Insurance Discount

  1. Contact your court and ask for permission to dismiss your ticket through traffic school.
To dismiss any violation other than a Failure to Yield conviction (for which you would receive a DMV notice), you must obtain permission from your individual court. I Drive Safely is currently authorized for ticket amendment for the Village of Greendale, the City of Brookfield Municipal Court and the Muskego Municipal Court; if that’s not your court, you’ll need to get that authorized. You may usually contact them either in person at a court date, or by phone (contact information is typically found on your citation).Ask your court if you can dismiss your ticket, or prevent the points associated with your violation from appearing on your driving record.
  2. Enroll in and complete the I Drive Safely Wisconsin ETS Traffic School course.
Once you have received your court’s permission, you can enroll in our course and work through it at your own pace. Your court may issue you a deadline; if so, be sure to complete your lessons well within your time limit so that you can submit your certificate of completion on time.
  3. Submit your certificate of completion to your court.
I Drive Safely will send you a completion certificate once you finish your course, which you may then mail, fax or bring in to your court; your court will give you instructions on how you’re to submit your certificate. Note: I Drive Safely will submit the certificate electronically every Monday to the Village of Greendale, the City of Brookfield Municipal Court and the Muskego Municipal Court. All others must submit to their court.
  4. Check your driving record to make sure you’ve received credit.
If they’ve received your certificate of completion, the court will not report your violation to the DMV. It shouldn’t appear on your driving record, but you’ll want to double-check with the DMV to make sure.
