How Do I Take Defensive Driving Online?
Contact your court or the Bureau of Motor Vehicles to confirm your traffic school eligibility and request a referral for defensive driving (traffic school).
If you want to fix a traffic citation (ticket), call the court that issued your ticket to request permission to erase the points through our online course.
If you didn't recently get a ticket, but you have points that are still on your driving record, contact your local BMV office and check your eligibility to register for this course.
Ohio Defensive Driving: Step by Step
- Confirm your eligibility with the court or BMV by requesting traffic school (as described above).
- Register online for our Ohio defensive driving course
- Take our entire course online and pass the final exam
(don't worry, you have unlimited attempts to pass) - Submit your Completion Certificate to your court or local BMV:
Subject to who referred your traffic school, submit your course completion certificate either to the court (who will then send it to the BMV for you), or directly to the BMV itself. Either way, we will send the certificate directly to you so you can submit it yourself! - Follow-up by checking your BMV driving record:
About 2-3 weeks after you have completed our course, check your driving record at the Ohio BMV. You should be able to verify that your 2-point credit has been applied.
Ohio Defensive Driving Eligibility Requirements
You can take our online course if:
- You only have up to 11 points on your OH driver's license
- You have NOT taken a traffic school course within the past 36 months (3 years)
- You have not already taken a defensive driving course 5 times in your LIFETIME
